Discussion on Motorcycle Shock Absorber

Performance and Selection of 1. Shock Absorber Oil

Because most shock absorbers absorb shock and vibration energy through the flow damping force of oil, and convert it into oil heat to dissipate. Therefore, the damping force is closely related to the viscosity of the oil, and the viscosity of the oil changes with temperature. The length of time the motorcycle is used and the ambient temperature during use are different. Therefore, in order to adapt to the various climatic conditions of the motorcycle running area, the following technical requirements are put forward for the shock absorber oil:

1. The shock absorber oil should not only have good viscosity-temperature properties and high viscosity index, but also have a low freezing point. When the ambient temperature changes or with the extension of the working time, the temperature of the shock absorber oil itself changes, the viscosity of the oil should be very small;

2. The freezing point of the shock absorber oil used in our country shall not be lower than -40 ℃, that is to say, when the temperature drops to 0 ℃-40 ℃ in severe cold winter, the oil should not lose its fluidity;

3, shock absorber oil in all the scope of use of motorcycles (including high-speed, full load and overload driving and other special circumstances), to minimize the loss of vaporization, the so-called small vaporization performance;

4. When the shock absorber oil is in contact with air, it must have anti-oxidation stability and anti-oil and gas mixing stability, which is the so-called good working stability;

5. The shock absorber oil containing impurities will quickly scratch the piston rod or cause the oil seal edge to be incomplete during the driving of the motorcycle, resulting in oil leakage. Therefore, the shock absorber oil must be kept absolutely clean.

6. The shock absorber oil must have good anti-rust and anti-wear effects.

Selection and Precautions of 2. Shock Absorber

In summary, the viscosity of the shock absorber oil has a great influence on the performance of the shock absorber. If the oil is too viscous, it will harden the soft shock absorber; if the oil is too thin, it will soften the hard shock absorber. In order to change the shock absorption performance of the shock absorber, the brand of the shock absorber oil can be replaced, but the amount of oil added must not be increased or decreased at will. Due to China's motorcycle oil products stores and motorcycle monopoly and maintenance market, there is currently no special shock absorber oil for sale, only through self-deployment to solve. Several methods of blending shock absorber oil are recommend for reference.

1. For motorcycles with low speed and low load (referring to vehicles below 50ml), you can directly purchase L-EOC grade gasoline engine oil with a brand of 5W/30;

2, the selection of mixed oil preparation, usually according to the following proportion of deployment:

a. Mix 22# turbine oil and transformer oil with 50% of each ratio;

B, mixed with 40% of No. 22 turbine oil and 60% of transformer oil;

C, with 60% of the 22 turbine oil and 40% of the transformer oil mixed.

It is worth noting that after the formulation of the national standard "GB2357 turbine oil", the commodity name of turbine oil was replaced by turbine oil. Due to the turbine oil has a variety of different performance, according to the current emergence of several turbine oil, the viscosity grade of 32 grades of L-TSA turbine oil (the oil is similar to the original "GB2537 turbine oil" No. 30, "SYB1656 turbine oil" No. 22) to replace the original No. 22 turbine oil, the most appropriate.

3. When changing the gasoline of the shock absorber, you can remove the steering handle, front wheel, front mud plate, and brake caliper in sequence, loosen the screw of the upper connecting plate, the fixing screw of the steering column, and turn the handle tube back and forth. Slowly pull out the handle tube, etc. For motorcycles equipped with a front fork dust shield, the dust shield and the front fork cover bolts should be removed first (the front fork cover bolts may jump out under the action of the spring, and attention should be paid to them). In the case of the air-pressurized type, the valve core shall be pressed to vent the air before the bolts are loosened. Remove the spring pad, spring guide tube and front fork spring in sequence, move the handle tube, and pour out the shock absorber oil in the front fork (as shown in Figure 3). Then, according to the specified amount of oil, inject the recommend front fork shock absorber oil, then slowly pull the handle tube 2. three times to eliminate the mixed air, and finally install it in order. Now briefly introduce part of the motorcycle fork shock absorber oil (refers to a single).
